Lew Wasserman Scholarship
The Lew Wasserman Scholarship Program helps eligible children of UMG employees pursue their education at accredited colleges, universities, and vocational or technical schools in the U.S.
The program honors Lew Wasserman and his more than 60 years of leadership at Universal (formerly MCA) and in the entertainment industry.
Who is eligible?
The program is available to children of UMG employees who meet the following requirements:
- Employee is a regular, full-time U.S. employee with at least one year of service
- Combined family income is less than $300,000
Scholarship award
- Starts at $500/year
- Can be renewed each year as long as eligibility requirements continue to be met
- Can be used at accredited two- or four-year colleges and vocational or technical schools in the U.S.

Application period
Applications are accepted each year from April 12 – May 23.
How recipients are selected
Scholarship America evaluates applications based on:
- Academic performance
- Community involvement and leadership
- Career goals and aspirations
- Personal statements and recommendation letters
