A serious illness can bring unexpected expenses, even when you have medical insurance. Critical Illness Insurance provides extra financial protection by paying cash directly to you if you’re diagnosed with a covered condition, such as a heart attack, stroke, or cancer.

The payment is separate from your medical coverage and can be used however you choose—from medical bills and your deductible to groceries, childcare, or other everyday expenses.

Premiums are deducted from your paycheck after taxes, so benefit payments are generally provided tax-free.

Get $50 for an eligible health screening

If you and/or a covered family member completes an eligible health screening, you can receive a $50 cash benefit for each day you complete an eligible health screening.

Payment isn’t automatic, so remember to submit a claim after completing an eligible screening.

To claim your benefit:

1. Visit myhealthhub.app/thehartford and log in or create an account.
2. Select File a Claim.
3. Choose Health Screening Benefit and the screening you completed.
4. Select the applicable policies and submit the requested information.
5. Once your claim is approved, The Hartford will mail your benefit payment. 

Note: You may add eligible dependents to this plan; however, if your spouse is also a UMG employee enrolled in the same plan, they cannot be added as a dependent due to plan restrictions on dual coverage.
