April is Neurodiversity Awareness Month
April is Neurodiversity Awareness Month—a time to celebrate the diverse ways our brains work and recognize that neurological differences are a natural part of human diversity. It’s an opportunity to broaden our perspectives and appreciate the unique strengths, talents, and insights that neurodivergent individuals bring to the world.
Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) partner, Journey provides the following resources and tools to support those withinn our neurodivergent community:
- Educate Yourself: Neurodiversity encompasses a wide range of conditions, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and more. Learn about the fundamental concepts and key terms related to neurodiversity in the “What is Neurodivergence?” video.
- Advocate for Opportunities: Look for ways to support neurodivergent individuals in your community. This could mean advocating in the workplace, schools, or social spaces. Watch “Self-Advocacy” for help navigating your own needs at work.
- Get Support: Being a parent of child with special, unique needs can be stressful. Take time to care for yourself with the “Parents of Special Needs Kids” series.
